I am a Licensed Professional Counselor based in Missouri. For over ten years, I have been offering counseling and life coaching services to individuals, couples, and families. Some of my specializations include working with depression, anxiety, eating disorders, relationship difficulties, emotional trauma, work-related problems, arousal dysregulation, OCD issues, self-sabotaging thought processes, clinical mental health issues, career struggles, and many other significant life challenges. As a mental health specialist and performance consultant, I also enjoy the challenge of working with athletes, businessmen/women, musicians, teachers, artists, and members of the military forces.
My professional orientation centers on cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT) and solution-focused counseling. I believe that therapy is much like a beautiful choreographed dance step. Client and counselor work together to achieve success through a reciprocal relationship built upon respect, trust, and positivity. Entering into the counseling relationship takes extraordinary courage and strength of character. I pride my practice on being welcoming, positive, genuine, and client-centered. This responsibility to help my clients is a sacred trust not taken lightly.
Counseling sessions are generally a combination of talk therapy, discussion, problem-solving exercises, and experiential activities designed specifically to help each client overcome their unique challenges. Some of the tools used in the counseling process include mindfulness training, cognitive reframing, goal setting, positive self-talk, communication skill building, introspection, motivational interviewing, and traditional narrative discourse. In addition to the more traditional approaches, I carry specializations and certifications in performance psychology, clinical hypnotherapy, wellness coaching, and career counseling. I have spent many years living in Europe, Asia, and North America. As such, I enjoy the opportunity to work with clients from very diverse backgrounds.
I truly look forward to working beside you through the counseling relationship. I truly count it as an honor and a privilege to share your life experience.

Dr. Wright really made an effort to get to know me and asked questions about me. He then worked with me to develop goals and out me at ease. That was just on the first visit! The next few visits used a few different methods to help me. He does a great job of balancing listening, asking the right questions, offering advice, and giving me things to work on and think about.

Dr Paul is one in a million. He gives solution focused advice while finding unique ways to help with what you’re going through. Dr Paul genuinely cares. He is passionate about what he does and it shows with the way he’s always so present on our calls. I live in Dubai, yet he always accommodates to my time-zone and understands foreign cultures with an unbiased and open-minded perspective. My first session with Dr Paul was a year ago and he’s aided in my growth tremendously. If you're lucky enough to have found him on BetterHelp, I’m happy for you, you’ve come to the right place.

WOW! I don’t even know where to start. Starting counseling/ therapy always was difficult for me. I come from a strong family where we’ve always just “figured it out”. I knew there was something I needed help with but couldn’t put my finger on it. Kinda always put it on the back burner type of gal.
I had so much anxiety going into my first video session because I couldn’t even begin to start where my issues are coming from or even how or why they start.
I can’t begin to tell you how comfortable I felt in our first meeting. Felt like I finally met the friend/person I’ve been needing to finally open up to. I feel no judgment. In fact, I feel like I can fully openly talk to someone who will give me advice on growing and being a better version of myself than I knew I could be.
I am in a relationship, and I’m very happy. I decided to take therapy to surface a lot of negativity that’s been haunting me. Dr. Wright, I’m beyond happy I found you.

I was somehow blessed with being paired with Dr. Wright. He has been exactly what I needed in my life. He is very smart and motivating. He approaches my issues by giving me creative, doable, beautiful tools that address my needs. Dr. Wright is one of the most impressive, kind, and helpful people I have ever encountered. It is difficult to overstate how effective his strategies and presence have been in helping me overcome my demons. I highly recommend Dr. Wright to those who truly want to heal themselves and identify and/or harness their own inner light.
Written on Feb 25, 2021 after therapy with Paul for 1 month on issues concerning stress, anxiety, addictions, self esteem, and career difficulties
Therapy is often depicted as someone on a couch never making eye contact with someone jotting down notes in a chart. Speaking with Dr. Wright is like video chatting with a friend. He is friendly and has a kind-hearted approach which has helped me connect the dots and understand how my behavior contributed to the concern I bring to the session. I feel a sense of lightness after our sessions, they encourage me to continue my self-work thru the week which is developing into healthy habits of boundaries and communication with others. I am grateful to have Dr. Write in my corner.

Written on Jan 25, 2021 after therapy with Paul for 2 weeks on issues concerning depression, stress, anxiety, and relationship issues
I have gone through a few therapists in my life. Some of them I connected better with, some I had zero connection on any level.
What me and Dr Wright have developed in the last few months cannot be easily described. He’s a trusted confidante, who knows how to listen and how to give feedback. He teaches how to change the perspective and how to process emotions in a different, better way. At this stage, I know the work is not done and that I trust him to guide me further. I’m glad our paths have crossed, by what seems like a stroke of luck.
